“Newborn”, oil on canvas
“Newborn” was created during a period of Covid-19 isolation. Not being with my daughter during her first childbirth, nor seeing my grandson was stressful and sad for us both. I have drawn and painted my daughter many times and the best outlet for my emotional situation on this occasion was through my art. I wanted to express humanity in its many complexities including sadness and strength.
It is on exhibit at the Royal Art Society NSW’s Thora Ungar Autumn exhibition until April 25.
The Farewell was probably inspired by the recent loss of my mum. Drawing is on exhibition at the Royal Art Society of NSW from Friday 12 February (6pm Opening) until Sunday 07 March.
